Liberated from Insurance? Part 4 Lab Work

So we have the routine medical care and the catastrophic situations covered, but what about basic lab work not included at the “direct pay” doctor? I have a solution for that as well. There are many reputable web sites which allow you to order your own labs and the prices are listed right there on the web site.

I personally used an online lab about a month ago when my doctor didn’t order a test that I wanted. It was easy. Within minutes I had the order in my e-mail which I printed out and took with me to Lab Corp. They drew the blood for me and within 24 hours, I had the results delivered electronically through their secure web site. These tests are much cheaper than when a doctor orders them and you don’t have insurance.
Have you ever ordered your own labs online?  Would you consider it?

  1. I haven't, but my stepmom does it all the time, and I definitely would do it.

  2. What online lab did you use? Where did you have the results sent?

  3. I used https://www.mymedlab.com/ but there are so many reputable ones. I could have e-mailed the results to my doctor or printed them out from my secure online account and taken them in. Instead, I just told the the doctor over the phone when she called to give me the results of the tests their office had ordered.
